Take the top four pieces and lay them as shown

Sew the two pairs together (use 1/4 inch seams, or be consistent, either will do)

Keep taking sets of four and sewing together until all are done

Separate the blocks (I keep them in order)
Press towards the squares, and sew the second seam on each to make the blocks

Like so...

Arrange the blocks so that the seams misalign, and sew together in 5 rows of 5
