Paper plates are cheap in the supermarkets at this time of year, grab a pack as a useful addition to your Sorting Tools
Arrange the doings for one block, each on a separate plate...
Then stack them up and take to the sewing machine. The stack keeps the individual blocks in order and the pile stops the bits blowing away. Part-completed blocks go on the bottom of the stack, to the ironing board, then return for finishing... (HH)
When safety-pinning to layer your quilt (we do prefer the safety-pins, clean, re-usable, and relatively cheap) you can save a lot of wear-and-tear on your fingers with judicious use of a spoon. This one lives in my safety-pin box and gets a lot of use...

When quilting, if you turn the edges of the backing over the edges of the wadding, you will find that this stops that irritating thing where the backing folds back and gets sewn down into a pig's breakfast underneath. When sewing your FPP pieces together, pins can distort the pieces - align with pins at each end of the seam, then use those little clips to hold everything in place while you sew...(HB)
